What TaskLock does
TaskLock helps families manage screen time with a task-first flow. The app can lock selected apps until required tasks are completed, based on parent settings.
How TaskLock works (local mode and optional remote mode)
- Local-only mode (default): Data is stored on-device.
- Optional parent connection: Paired devices can sync selected parental-control data over the internet.
Data stored on your device
TaskLock stores app data locally in private app storage, including:
- selected blocked apps
- tasks, completion status, schedules, and reset-time settings
- theme/language/preferences
- money reward workflow state (if used)
- pairing/session state for connected devices (if used)
- parent PIN (stored with encryption where available)
Data synced only when optional remote features are enabled
If you enable parent connection between devices, TaskLock syncs limited parental-control data needed for the feature set, such as:
- pairing/session identifiers and status
- task configuration and task completion state
- unlock request/approval state
- session settings (blocking, schedule, reset-time settings)
- money reward approval state (if used)
TaskLock does not sync screen content, typed text, messages, passwords, photos, contacts, or app content from other apps.
Accessibility (Android Accessibility Service)
TaskLock uses Accessibility only to:
- detect when a selected/blocked app is opened
- show TaskLock’s lock screen according to configured rules
TaskLock does not use Accessibility to:
- read screen content, messages, or passwords
- capture typed text
- perform actions, taps, or button presses on your behalf
Permissions
- Accessibility: required for real-time app blocking behavior
- Notifications: used for reminders and parent-request notifications (if enabled)
- Internet: used for optional remote sync features
- In-app billing: used for subscription purchase/management via Google Play
Third-party services
TaskLock may rely on Google services to provide core functionality:
- Google Firebase (for optional remote pairing/sync/auth flows)
- Google Play Billing (for subscriptions)
Payment details are processed by Google Play. TaskLock does not receive your card details.
Children’s privacy
TaskLock is intended for parent/guardian-managed use. The app does not provide public profiles, social feeds, or chat features.
Data sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
Data retention
Local app data remains on your device until removed by you. If optional remote sync is enabled, synced pairing-related data is retained while pairing is active, or until deletion is requested in-app.
Delete your data
You can delete app data directly in TaskLock:
- Open Settings → Advanced → Delete all data
This clears local app data and removes pairing-related synced data for this device context.

Security
We use platform-provided private app storage. Sensitive local values (such as the parent PIN) are stored with encryption where available.
